What is Omega-3 Fatty Acids (EPA/DHA)?
Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) are essential polyunsaturated fats with the most extensive evidence base of any supplement. EPA reduces systemic inflammation via prostaglandin and leukotriene modulation. DHA is a structural component of neuronal membranes and the retina. Combined, they reduce triglycerides, lower cardiovascular risk, support cognitive function, improve skin barrier function, and reduce inflammatory skin conditions. The REDUCE-IT trial demonstrated 25% reduction in cardiovascular events with high-dose EPA (Bhatt et al., 2019).
How It's Made
EPA and DHA are derived from marine sources (fish oil, krill oil, algae oil). Triglyceride form has superior bioavailability to ethyl ester form. Algae-derived omega-3 is suitable for vegans.
